Project Alpha

This game has been a great achievement and also the greatest pain.   I honestly think I would of been extremely lost without the youtube videos that I found to help me and also the unity tutorials. They have been a blessing. I wanted to give up some days I just couldn't seem to get the puzzles to assemble properly. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I went back over the tutorials and honestly gave up for a good two days. I think I spent 2 hours trying to figure out different ways to rectify it. Turns out it was a step I completely missed. Shows you that it's a good idea to take a short break from things and come back it gives you some perspective.  I can imaging that gaming developers also have to do similar things. I can't imaging they get everything right the first time round. Obviously that's why it can take so long for games to come out. It has definitely been nice to see what it would be like. I remember there was an evening I had a nap and was lite

Unity Tutorial 06

Unity Tutorials the part of the week I don't know if I dread or love. Seeing as my gaming idea is more so based on a puzzle I had been attempting to do unity tutorials based on this to help get the most out of my gaming idea. It's been a struggle. For one getting photos that best suit and trying to get them to separate properly. I did find some really good youtube videos. My best friend honestly!  I found some youtube videos that were basically episodes of steps and tricks in how to do puzzles or even jigsaw puzzles. They were so useful! They honestly gave me a-lot of inspiration and it helped make the process that little bit easier also. Unity has been a really great tool to use when making these games. It's been frustrating and a challenge in a good way. (Screenshot) I'll leave links down below to the videos I was referring to incase anyone would ever like to take a look! Review Week Comments and Feedback

Overall I think the feedback I received from other students was quite positive. It was lovely to see other comments from other people on my posts especially when it came to my gaming ideas and process. Getting feedback on things they would perhaps like to see as a user was extremely helpful. Those were the comments that I found the most useful. It was obviously easy for me to decide on a game idea that I like but it was good to see feedback and if it was something that people might actually enjoy.  Feedback I gave out I liked this. Reading other peoples posts and ideas and giving some of my thoughts. I feel with feedback between people it's important because there could be something that your missing that another person would spot. Reading other peoples posts has honestly given me inspiration and i've really enjoyed it.  It's has been really nice seeing people's blogs and even just having a little bit of interaction with people you may not of gotten a chance to talk a-

Reading and Writing

Image
Over the last few weeks I have felt like this module has been challenging at times. It hasn't all been that simple where you just read and write. I feel you need to have some sort of understanding. With some of the readings over the last few weeks I have had to really take my time. I consider myself to be a pretty fast reader. I love to read. Throw a book in-front of me and if I really like it i'll have it finished in a night. These readings have obviously been different. I've never thought of myself as a gamer or wanting to learn things related to it but here I am finding myself learning and taking an interest. Well trying I can get distracted quite easily sometimes. Having the intro voice messages from shaun every week has been really helping with what he wants from us. The last 3 weeks doing the readings in a group has made it less time consuming and less stress so that's always a win.  I honestly think my biggest accomplishment with this class is staying consistent

First Playable

My Prototype is coming along slowly but surly. I had a period there where I found it hard to work. Personally my motivation wasn't there. I have been finding some aspects difficult and it's taking time with getting the puzzle pieces to scatter correctly in order to then arrange it properly. I've been trying to attempt things suggested by other students like adding a timer and or possibly music to set the tone and mood for the game. I've spent a-lot of time watching youtube videos and doing research on any unity coding to suit my game.  I'm still confident I can get my Puzzle game up and running the way I have imagined in my head it's just a matter of putting all the pieces together correctly. I feel I have to put in some extra work with some time that I lost which has ended up stressing me out. Once I stick to my plan of action I think everything will work out. Atleast that's what i'm hoping.

Games Stories

Games can be described by the 3 components Mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics (MDA) or otherwise stated as rules – system – “fun” . MDA There are eight types of Fun outlined by the MDA. These eight are both a source of reference and player experience that blend together in many ways, and essentially what makes a game fun and enjoyable.                                                                                           Eight kinds of Fu   There are a variety of definitions to describe the term “Fun”. Both Oxford and Merrian dictionaries define Fun as an enjoyment, delight. But within the context of a game it usually refers to a form of pleasurable entertainment. Nicole Lazzaro presents four types of fun that are involved in defining how fun a game can be for different players. Easy Fun: This is essentially for players who are new to a game who want to satiate their curiosity. Hard Fun : It is essentially for people who li
